Terms of Service

Terms governing use of the Digital Family Shield website and services.

Last updated: September 18, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Digital Family Shield (“DFS”) website, privacy education resources, privacy exposure scans, data broker removal assistance, and related services.

By using this website or requesting services from Digital Family Shield, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Digital Family Shield

Digital Family Shield provides privacy education, privacy exposure discovery, public-source research, data broker removal assistance, and privacy support.

DFS is designed to help individuals and families better understand where their personal information may be publicly discoverable and what steps may be available to reduce that exposure.

2. Free Privacy Exposure Scan

Digital Family Shield may offer a free privacy exposure scan.

When requesting a scan, you authorize DFS to use the information you voluntarily provide to conduct public-source research related to your privacy exposure.

A scan may include reviewing selected publicly accessible sources, search engines, people-search services, data brokers, breach-notification resources, and other relevant public or authorized resources.

DFS uses human review as part of its research process. Search-engine summaries, automated suggestions, artificial intelligence output, or similar indicators are not treated by DFS as proof that information belongs to a particular person.

We may request additional information when reasonably necessary to distinguish between individuals or verify a potential finding. You should not provide Social Security numbers, passwords, financial account credentials, or other highly sensitive information unless DFS specifically provides an appropriate and secure method and explains why the information is necessary.

3. Scan Timing

DFS generally aims to complete an initial privacy exposure scan within approximately 72 hours.

This is a target and not a guaranteed completion time. Research time may vary depending on the information provided, the sources being reviewed, source availability, verification requirements, request volume, and other circumstances.

4. No Guarantee of Complete Discovery

The internet, public records, search indexes, data brokers, breach resources, and people-search services change continuously.

DFS reviews selected sources and cannot establish that personal information does or does not exist everywhere online.

A “not found” result means that during our review we did not identify matching public exposure in the sources searched. It does not guarantee that no exposure exists elsewhere.

5. Accuracy and Identity Verification

Publicly available information can be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, duplicated, or associated with another individual.

DFS attempts to use reasonable verification practices before treating information as a confirmed finding. However, we cannot guarantee that information supplied by third parties is accurate.

Customers should review scan findings and notify DFS if information appears incorrect or relates to another individual.

6. Data Broker Removal Assistance

DFS may help customers identify removal options and assist with opt-out, suppression, or deletion requests where those options are made available by third-party services.

Removal procedures are controlled by the company, website, data broker, people-search service, or other organization holding the information.

DFS cannot guarantee that:

  • a removal request will be accepted;
  • information will be removed within a particular period;
  • removed information will remain unavailable permanently;
  • information will not appear through another source; or
  • every instance of the information can be identified or removed.

Our goal is to help reduce publicly discoverable exposure and assist customers with the removal process where practical.

7. Customer Authorization

By requesting a DFS privacy scan or removal service, you represent that:

  • the information submitted belongs to you, or you are legally authorized to act for the person concerned;
  • the information you provide is reasonably accurate;
  • you authorize DFS to perform the public-source research necessary to provide the requested service; and
  • when you specifically request removal assistance, you authorize DFS to assist with applicable opt-out or removal procedures on your behalf.

You may not use DFS services to investigate, monitor, impersonate, harass, locate, or obtain personal information about another person without proper authorization.

8. Third-Party Websites and Services

DFS may provide links to or use information from independent websites, search engines, government resources, breach-notification services, credit resources, data brokers, people-search services, and other third-party tools.

These services are not controlled by Digital Family Shield.

DFS is not responsible for the availability, security, accuracy, content, privacy practices, policies, or actions of third-party services.

You should review a third party’s privacy policy and terms before submitting information directly to that service.

9. Privacy & Safety Center

DFS may provide free educational articles, guides, self-check resources, security reminders, scam information, and links to trusted third-party resources through its Privacy & Safety Center.

These resources are provided for general informational and educational purposes.

You do not have to purchase a DFS service to access publicly available educational resources provided through the Privacy & Safety Center.

10. Paid Services

DFS may offer optional paid privacy cleanup, monitoring, family protection, or other privacy-related services.

The features, pricing, billing frequency, and applicable conditions for a paid service will be presented before purchase.

The availability, features, and pricing of services may change over time.

Purchasing a paid service does not guarantee complete discovery or permanent removal of personal information from the internet.

11. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the DFS website or services to:

  • violate applicable law;
  • obtain information about another person without appropriate authorization;
  • impersonate another individual;
  • harass, threaten, stalk, or harm another person;
  • interfere with the operation or security of the website;
  • attempt unauthorized access to DFS systems or accounts;
  • submit false or misleading information; or
  • misuse DFS research, reports, tools, or services for unlawful purposes.

DFS may refuse or discontinue a request when we reasonably believe it violates these Terms, applicable law, third-party requirements, or creates an unacceptable security or privacy risk.

12. Security

DFS uses reasonable measures intended to protect information submitted to us.

However, no website, email system, internet transmission, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Do not submit passwords, Social Security numbers, financial account credentials, or other highly sensitive information through forms that do not specifically request and protect that information.

13. No Professional Advice

Digital Family Shield is not a law firm, financial adviser, credit bureau, credit-repair organization, medical provider, or law-enforcement agency.

Information provided through the website, privacy scans, reports, educational materials, or recommendations is for general informational purposes and is not a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified professional.

14. Service Availability

DFS may modify, suspend, discontinue, improve, or replace portions of the website or services as the business develops.

We may also temporarily restrict services for maintenance, security, technical problems, third-party outages, or other operational reasons.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Digital Family Shield will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the website or services.

DFS is not responsible for actions taken by independent third parties, including data brokers, people-search services, search engines, websites, credit bureaus, breach-notification services, or other external providers.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

16. Changes to These Terms

DFS may update these Terms as our website, services, or legal requirements change.

When material changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.

Your continued use of the website or services after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
